AIMA invites applications from MSMEs for Dr. J S Juneja Award for Creativity and Innovation

Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), including start-ups and micro enterprises have emerged as an engine of growth for most of the countries in Asia and the Pacific. The Indian MSMEs sector is a highly vivacious, deserving and self-motivated sector that has acquired a prominent place in the socio-economic development of the country during the past 50 years.

In terms of value, the MSME sector accounts for approx. 45% of total manufactured output and 40% of total export earnings. This sector to day, employs 6 crore 90 lacs people and manufactures around 6,000 products ranging from traditional hand-made to hi-tech items. Besides being the employment generator, MSME’s also contribute to the industrialization in rural and backward areas. They have helped in reducing the regional imbalances and assured equitable distribution of National Income.

In India, MSMEs serve as a seedbed for Enterprise Development. MSMEs have the prodigious potential to bring about innovations and develop innovative products and services to meet the diverse demand of the market place 

In order to recognize and boost the innovative spirit of MSMEs, AlMA instituted the ‘AlMA – Dr. J.S. Juneja Award for Creativity and Innovation for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises’ jointly with Dr. J. S. Juneja, Past President AlMA, Former CMD, National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC). Through this award, AlMA honors the creativity and innovation of the deserving Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises every year, since 2003.

Areas of Innovation:

Innovation is not limited to R & D and product design, but extends across the entire value chain. The unit nominated should have come up with an innovative idea/concept which has led to a breakthrough in the following areas over a period of minimum 3 years. The areas of innovation could be in:

  • Environment Management
  • Export Promotion
  • Human Resource Management
  • Innovation Financing
  • Knowledge Creation
  • Leadership Style
  • Manufacturing
  • Market Development and Customer Satisfaction
  • Product Development and Design
  • Social Development
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Technology Usage

Criteria of Evaluation: Criteria on which the nominations would be judged are both qualitative and quantitative. The weightage of the both the components will be 50% respectively.

Award Jury: Award Jury comprising Industry representatives and SME Policy makers from Government of India shall evaluate the award nominations. The winners shall be decided by the jury chaired by Mr Pratyush Sinha (Former Central Vigilance Commissioner & Chairman, AlMA – Dr. J.S. Juneja Award for Creativity & Innovation for MSME Jury Board) & by veteran Jury members on the basis of Qualitative and Quantitative components.

Special Recognition: The Winner and the Runners-Up companies will be invited to deliver a presentation at AlMAs National MSME Convention to share the success story of their company

Special Consideration: Special consideration of 5 marks would be given to shortlisted women entrepreneurs and disadvantaged members of the society.

Prize of Winner MSME: INR 51,000/-

Eligibility: All Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises as defined by Government of India in 13th May 2020 notification will be eligible for award excepting those dealing in trading only.
